Appreciation: ryoan-ji in Kyoto

    Because it was absolutely crawling with tourists, I only took a few photos of some of the technical aspects, as @JT1 has mentioned in another thread. And a selfie.

    It was a very beautiful place, perhaps during an off season would be a good time to visit.

    The last picture is a charm, best wiches from pierre.
    I am now in front of the sea with fiends and un cup of champagne ... chin !
    I have pictures of Ryoan-ji rock garden , i took them with a teleobjectiv (without poeple and with a nice light ) an also pictures of the marvelous Ryoan-ji park.
    I will post them soon.

    Continuing with some second growth of Cryptomeria japonica . Obtained very quikly from old stumps and pruned, they are used as support to stake trees. Their wood is heavy and resistant. (their localisation on the map)
    In each japaneese park there is a clearing with a plum trees garden (prunus salicina). Approximately 800 years ago the plum trees were celebrated for their early white flowering in february; prunus mume also.

    Piece of advice: for a quiet visit, in all season, you have to be in front of the door at 9 am.

    It was in november , in the morning of one the last days of november 2009; under a grey covered sky.
    I wish you to go there and to travel in Japan in november. The best périod for momijigari is generaly between 10 and 20 november .
