Oregon: tree, weed, or native?

    Looks like a hawthorn of some sort. Maybe a native one, maybe not (though it isn't any of the European hawthorns).

    Thank you for your response. Because of it, I googled hawthorn leaves and I must say I was very surprised by the many different shapes hawthorn leaves can take. What a varied genus it is.

    Could it be a rose of Sharon seedling possibly? Those leaves look a lot like the volunteers I get around my shrubs.

    I do have a rose of sharon on the other side of the yard so that is a possibility. I will do a closer comparison when I get home. Thank you for responding.
