euonymus tree?

I was in Campbell River today and saw a rare, 15-20 foot tall, multi trunk, variegated broadleaf evergreen tree that the owner said is a type of euonymus? Anyone know what this tree might be? Sorry I don't have a photo...

 

I think the owner could be right. Another possibility could be variegated Buxus, but Buxus leaves are small.

Any hope for a picture?

 

Still another possibility could be some kind of variegated Ligustrum.

 

Apparently Euonymus europaeus can grow to 30 feet. As far as I can tell, a couple of varieties have variegated leaves.

Do any of these look familiar?

But, Margot, Euonymus europaeus is, according to Wiki, deciduous https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euonymus_europaeus

Still, there are other Euonymus species that are evergreen.

 

No, those don't look like the leaves...when I first saw it I thought it was variegated weigela...then guessed variegated pieris even though I'd never seen one that large. I don't live in Campbell River so not sure when I'll get back to photograph it.
