Wildflowers: Pink Michigan wildflower

    Could you please help me identify the pink stalk wildflower in the attached photo?

    The flower was photographed on July 9, 2016 on the Pottawatomie Trail in Livingstone County, Michigan.

    This is probably Lythrum salicaria. The inflorescence looks unusually short, but the ID is probably correct anyway.

    How disappointing. It didn't look like loosestrife to me... I am always saddened to see that.
