    Euonymus fortunei, cannot identify it down to cultivar level though.

    that's good enough for me - thanks Axel -
    small insects love the flowers
    and there are no disease issues -

    I did some comparision with photos found on the web
    and believe now it's a euonymus japonicus -

    I think you are right with your id -
    looked at some more plant pictures
