    Hello,

I'm a biology technician at a 6th form school and am attempting to identify all the plants in my lab. I've come across one and I have absolutely no idea what it is though I've tried every search I can think of. I can't really tell you much about it except that the remainders of the flowers in the pictures use to be white with a purple rim, they seem to grow quite prolifically. If you need any more photos let me know.

    Thanks
    Hannah

It's a bromeliad of some sort; judging by the floral remnants I'd guess Tillandsia. Maybe T. cacticola?

I've looked up the one you suggested and the leaves look a lot lighter than the one I have, also the flowers have long thin petals that twist around eachother. Also mine definitely has to grow in soil, whereas aren't tillandsia primarily air plants? Please correct me if I'm wrong, I know very little about plants! It looks like billbergia nutans before the flowers fully bloom...
