ID this low growing plant? Hope it's not invasive, as there are large patches in the wood at Discovery Place, Burnaby, right next to some Oregon grape. However, not really in a disturbed part, but a little bit deeper in the forest.
Oh no, there's already quite a lot of them to weed by hand. And the city is not very diligent managing the other invasives around the park..
Typical scenario is they don't have enough money to send staff chasing after woody weeds in the parks. This is yet another area where committed and informed volunteers will have to step in before serious, lasting improvement becomes possible. Lately I've started working on ivy in a park here - after making arrangements with the Parks Manager, who wants to be kept informed when I am in the park, when I have left and has other requirements.
