Acer Palmatum Dragon Lady

    A local nursery has a maple for sale called "Dragon Lady". I love the name, and would like to add it to my collection....but I can find no information on this tree. The tag says "similar to O sakasuki". Have any of you heard of this tree? Thank you for any help.

    Hi Mary,

    First i hear it, too. There was one A.P called 'Dragon tears' just came on a few years back. It looks like the AP Ryusen (whipping green palmatum). This one is whipping red palmatum. Can you share the photo of this Dragon lady, any chance?.

    The AP Dragon Lady is still at the nursery. I never got a picture and she only has one. I never buy a cultivar unless I know that it is officially recognized. As for Dragon Tears, I have this maple and it is beautiful.

    Dragon Lady is not on the 2008 checklist. So if it does exist it's since then, anyway.

    Here is my 'tsuma gaki'
    I think dragon lady has longer, more extended leaf tips.
