Hi, I enclose two photos of a shrub taken in Hunter's Bay, near Sydney, Australia. Any ideas on an I.D. would be appreciated.

The purple shrub is Hypoestes aristata, native to Southern Africa but popular in Sydney gardens for its profuse autumn flowering.

For clarification, that's the yellow-flowered plant in pic #2 mixed in with the purple-flowered plant.

Thanks, Tony, that is fantastic. Most of the images show it as a fairly low shrub, have you any idea why this seems taller?

Thanks, Saltcedar, the purple one was the problem but Tony Rodd has nailed it.
