Thank you for your reply, I'm in need of a little advice please.
in the photo the roots seem to be growing out of the top of the pot, when i re-pot will i need to keep them or get rid?
    Thanks again

I'm ready to re-pot now so can anyone advise me on the woody roots that are growing out-side the pot?

Are they supposed to grow this way or is it because it's been pot bound for so long?

Will it hurt the plant if I cut them back as I re-pot or should I try and get them under ground?

Sorry for all the questions but I really like this plant and have a very large pot ready for it and a nice place set aside for it in my front room.

    Thanks ;-)

Personally I'd cut them off. I believe they are the type of roots that would have fastened it to a tree truck if it was growing in its native habitat. It's pretty hard to kill a F. elastica.
