Hi Kevin (schattenfreude) We are still experiencing snow storms and very cold temps -21C) over night, and are not anywhere near spring this year. I will not know for some time how well my acer has done planted in the ground without protection. There is still lots of deep snow around the tree. I will post an update whenever there is news - hopefully, positive. Ingrid
Sending a comforting reply, my shirasawanums are thriving (2m high) , aureum, jasmin(1.5 m). No snow this winter lowest temp -26 C . Looking good now, temp around 0 C no damages yet. Good luck!
