I rescued a few plants from a hardware store here - bought for as low as $2.99 and $3.99 each, on sale from plants I looked at just before Christmas and the prices were $10-15 each back then. I guess someone forgot to water them for quite awhile. Anyway I need an ID for these 2 and some care tips please.

I took a pic of the whole plant and then a close-up of a leaf for each of these 2 plants.

This one was full of dead pieces that I cut off or pulled right out of the soil.

This is a palm but I'd like to know which palm it is.

togata57 & saltcedar: Thankyou for your quick replies. I really appreciate the help. Now I can check on taking care of them. I did own a parlor palm once before and it did very well. I gave it as a gift to a friend who has continued to take good care of it.
