I have a 30 year old Madagascar palm that had started to loose its leaves, which caused me to repot it into a bigger container. I used cactus soil, but it has not improved. I moved it to another location, out of direct sunlight, still no improvement. Now I see some really dark shiny spots near the top. Anybody know what is going on? I appreciate any feedback.

This is not a plant I have grown, but reading online, it sounds like they really like full sun, so it will probably not like reduced light. Plants often need a period of readjustment after repotting, before they start to put out new leaves. It may just need some time. Don't know about the black spots.

Can you post a pic of the black spots? Sounds troubling, but could simply be where the leaves will form? Or where they fell off? Like I said, I have never grown one and I assume you have had this one a while. Care instructions online said they often lose their leaves indoors during winter and that leaves sprout vigorously in spring when light increases.

I did post a close up pic. The spots are near the top of the picture.

Oh, I see now, but don't know what those are. Maybe somebody who knows the plant will see the thread.
