Your photo looks like the shrub is daphne (an invasive here in BC Canada), but that the orange balls are rose hips from a bush next to it. Is that possible?
I think the fruit with orange seeds are those of Pittosporum tobira. But you're right, Daphne is very similar.
I see a Daphne with a fruiting sprig of rose in front of it. The locally invasive D. is D. laureola; the one shown here may be another species of D.
D. laureola has tiny white flowers in the spring and tiny blue to black berries later. There are three plants I have difficulty identifying. Daphne Laureola, Pittosporum tobira and Choisya ternate. Any clus would be helpful. barb
