I Need Help Identifying Plant With Jagged Leaves

    If possible I would like to identify this plant which grows in plenty along a stream near my land. More photos can easily be taken if they would help.

    Probably an aster family plant. Try local resources like regional wild plant guides, universities with herbariums etc.

    I've had a look in the illustrated accompaniment to Gleason and Cronquist (its southern extent ends just one state to the north) and didn't find any matches in Asteraceae (or any of the other opposite-leaved families I looked at) on the first pass. So, assuming I was thorough, perhaps it is something that reaches its northern extent in Tennessee. Our book resources are poorer for Tennessee southward, and I haven't been able to find a match yet. I agree it is possibly Asteraceae (and within Asteraceae, a likely candidate is something in the Heliantheae).

    It reminds me of Ambrosia.
