    The first is likely Ribes aureum.

    Thanks, Daniel. I'll have to go sniff the flower; I seem to recall reading that it's fragrant.

    Eric, we're pretty sure the other plant is not a ligularia (that was one of our guesses too). Sorry the photo is sideways; doesn't help the viewer.
