ID please: mystery shrub

    SW. Ontario, formerly North Okanagan (formerly NB)
    This one puzzles me... no sign of blooms yet.

    Stems have a sort of "square edges" configuration, reminds me of Hibiscus a little.
    Anyone recognize the leaves? Plant is small, maybe half a meter in spread and height.

    Looks a lot like my Euonymus alatus (Burning Bush) which I asked about myself not long ago. I'm sure one of the experts will set us straight.
