I just bought a small ponytail palm and when i purchased it they had a small amount of hay in it. My question is what kind of soil would be good for it?

Loam plus sand and a little bonemeal will be good. Watering is once the soil has completely dried up. Propagation by side shoots or seeds. High light to partial shade is needed. Do not repot immediately it can tolerate cramped conditions. :)
