Hi, I'm new to the learning of identifying houseplants let alone wildflowers and weeds but when I was in Illinois or the nearby states I took a photo of this stand-alone plant and no one seems able to identify it. (see attached photo) Any information at all would help, please! Thanks Katrina
Reminds me Linaria dalmatica. Compare to some images from my collection: http://www.flickr.com/search/?w=33497841@N02&q=linaria dalmatica
Dear Andrey: Thanks for the quick reply! Now please forgive my layman's (or incorrect) terms here, but I can definitely see the resemblance when it comes to the stalk and leaf shapes (in particular in photo "2009.07.09_17.44.47_CIMG1828"). However, the head of the flower isn't really seen in some of your photos so I couldn't compare and my photo plant didn't (or perhaps doesn't) give off yellow flowers, just forms into a whorled rose of green. What are your (or any else's thoughts)? I'm eager to learn more! Katrina
There is no flower in your photo, either. It is still a sprout. And as it is, it somewhat similar to the green sprouts scattered around the yellow one in photo "2010.04.19_16.14.39_CIMG2972". It is better seen when you look at the original size: http://www.flickr.com/photos/zharkikh/6678830551/sizes/o
