This is a dwarf introduction from Richard Wolff that is similar in branch structure to 'Mikawa yatsubusa' with a more narrow leaf. The tree pictured is about four feet tall and around 20 years old.

'Lima Gold' is a beauty this year. The habit is tight and upright and the color lively and fresh. The growth is robust but miniature, elegantly scaled.

    Thanks Ed!

Not many comments on Lima Gold, though a very promising cultivar. Visually softer than Mikawa Yatsubusa.

Nice job showing Mikawa and Lima next to each other.
I do like Lima Golds texture.

Yes, thank you very much - that picture helped me decide which of the two I would rather have, with the winner being Lima Gold. Received this afternoon courtesy of Diana at Topiary Gardens; another standout tree from her. :)

Very pretty tree, wish the leaves would stay a bit more golden for a longer period of time though...

With our cold winter, a little die-back was inevitable. Growing very well this spring, and I love the blush margins on the leaves.

*Happy dance* 5g, 3ft tall and wide. Small branches in the crown need a little thinning out, but otherwise, I absolutely love the shape on this one.

Couldn't have asked for a nicer example of this cultivar.

I find the small newly planted green maples are a great attraction for slugs and snails, so do consider some protection. Also, some protection against a harsh Winter and Spring frosts would be a good idea.
    Good luck. Keep us updated.

Ordered this beauty from Sam at Eastfork. I have since added weights to parts to spread the branches a bit. And of course a great pot to go with it.
