A few photos from around the front of the property showing the absolutely amazing spring we're having. Some of the maples are starting to get 'beefier', even the ones I bought as tiny new grafts 4 or 5 years ago. All of these beds (except the one beside the front walk) are 5 years old or younger.
Great garden, thanks for sharing! I love the use of evergreens and specimen rock / boulders creating a great looking garden with year round appeal. I feel that's so important in a four season garden, especially in areas where winter seems so long.
BigBudz, Those are Dogwoods - (Cornus florida). They grow wild here and are very popular garden trees. There are several cultivated varieties that have pink flowers, but all of these are wild trees with the white. When the flowers fall off it looks like snow on the grass. :)
That's cool i got a ton of dog wood seeds, white, red and pink's in a stratification process right now can't wait till they come up
You will love them. They look great with Conifers and Japanese Maples. In a way they have an almost oriental look to them - especially the older ones when they get kind of gnarly. I have a few really old ones deeper into my woods that might be 100 years old.
After seeing your garden last fall in the heat, it makes my appreciation of the spring pictures even greater! Really coming together! Gorgeous!!!
I want your yard/garden! So jealous :) Hopefully our new yard will start to look good in a few years, though on a much smaller scale.
K4, I found this thread on a search. You have really done an amazing amount of work. Really looks incredible. What does your irrigation look like? I just picked up about 600 ft. of 1" black poly from a nursery going out of business. 20 bucks...Score! I guess I will use this as mainline and get the stake type sprinklers that you have. Do you have a good supplier of irrigation parts? Thanks, Stephen
You need to determine if it is thin-wall poly or thick-wall poly. The system I use is thin-wall, and its called Mister Landscaper. You can get it at any Lowes (in the Plumbing Dept - not landscaping!) They have dozens of drippers, squirters, sprayers, etc to choose from. Sets up in minutes. I just finished setting up a 60ft long bed and it took me maybe 45 minutes.
