I lost my Briella's Broom (combo of insanely hot summer and mild winter, I think), and would like to replace it with something somewhat similar. I like the looks of the above three mentioned trees and would like feedback on their hardiness, growth habit, etc? Trying to decide between the three and am not having much luck!!

Also, does anyone know who carries them?

I have all of them, but only two are in the ground. Shira Red seems to stay pretty small. I hae it in a lot of shade and it seems to do well. Summer Sunset seems more virorous, and its in 1/2 sun. No problems to date.

Diana at Topiary Gardens may have some of these in stock

Any chance I could trouble you to post pictures of your trees? I wouldn't mind seeing how they compare. :) How old is each of the trees? Where did you get the rhode island from? It seems to be the most elusive of the three...

I have been in contact with Diana (such a wonderful lady), and while she has summer sunset, she doesn't have the other two - yet.

Looks like I got Shira Red from Eastwoods Nursery. Got Summer Sunset from Diana. Rhode Island Red came from Highland Creek Nursery (wholesale).

I'll try to post some pics over the weekend.

I have my eye on a Rhode Island Red at my local nursery, if I get it, I will post some pics.

Here is my Rhode Island inside my Garage.
I will give it a trim in the fall when get a better view at the branches.
In the picture, the leaves are wet from the rain.

Picked up Summer Sunset from Millstone Nursery in Alabama 1 yr ago. Aggressive grower that maintains red color. Still growing in pot, but based on size of leaves and growth rate, suspect with time will become one of the larger Japanese Maples.
