Identification: Does anyone know what this growth is?

    I would like to know what this growth is. It is located in an old home's crawlspace and is a fairly substantial growth. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks for the welcome but I do not think this ID is correct. Look closely at the photo and you will see bright white edges that are eventually covered by a yellow growth which eventually becomes a smooth surface

    It's not a slime mould, some sort of fungal rot...(much as I would love it to be a slime mould!)

    I don't think it is a slime mold either as the mold seems to 'mature' over the feathery white that precedes it.
