Lost the tag (and my memory) for the shrub in the photos. Measures in cm are:
    • Plant: 45 (h) x 80 (w)
    • Mature Leaf: 2 x 4
    • Flower: 2 (l) x 1.5 (at crown)
I think it has been in bloom for about one week. Flowers are fragrant. And I think it is evergreen.

Sure looks like it. That's a big help because I think the space that I had in mind for it is too small. Many thanks, Silver surfer.

There are many x grandiflora plants out there - vary in mature size quite a bit. It might also be A. floribunda. Both species are evergreen and quite long-lived.

Maybe you can contact the nursery where you purchased it.

Thanks for the follow-up Susan. The trick is remembering what nursery I got this from. I'll check around. Worst case, I guess, is if it gets too big for the space I could whack it back (I understand it will take hard pruning) or move it to another location.

Err ! have you ever seen Abelia floribunda Susan?
The flowers are deep pink and long tubular flowers. Very unlike other Abelia!!!!

We grow 6 different Abelia including Abelia floribunda . Abelia floribunda it is not.

That species is tender and therefore much rarer than glossy abelia. Glossy abelia grows quite large, well above head height, when not a smaller-growing named selection. All enjoy a warm, sheltered position in northern climates.

Much thanks to everyone. Had I retained some memory or a label, I would not have learned this much about Abelia. I'm going to move this plant to a sheltered, sunny area and see how it deals with our somewhat confused fall and winter.

Be sure to pull open the roots at planting, that pot is way too small.
