I am doing this for another person... "Was down in my duck swamp today mowing and cutting trees in preperation for the upcoming duck season. Came across this plant. Was sort of bushy but was loaded with tons and tons of these pink flowers" .
Yes but what varietie? I know that there are several different varieties. This is a wild plant found in the woods, not planted.
And therefore not a variety but a wild species, presumably. Look for books and web sites on the wild plants of the state or region.
Possible: Hibiscus laevis All with black leaves? http://www.illinoiswildflowers.info/wetland/plants/halberd_mallow.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hibiscus_laevis .
Hibiscus 'Kopper King' is one of several red leaved hybrids introduced into commerce. Wouldn't be too surprised if your plant has acquired those genes from a cultivated plant. http://www.mobot.org/gardeninghelp/image.asp?image=Z150-0901020.jpg Bee's don't ask don't tell! ;-)
