I'm not sure what these two plants are. In the first picture, you can see that there is a small plant (I was thinking maybe a small Amur Maple) in front of a larger bush. I don't really trust my estimation of Amur Maple so I'm wondering if anyone can help me. I need an ID on both plants.

Here's one more picture of the leaves of the larger bush.

Since there aren't any thorns on the smaller plant, could it be a Rose of Sharon? There are a few other people on different forums that are suggesting that. I think it's a high possibility. I've never been around to see it bloom...which would make this determination much easier.
