I have pines in my front and back yard.
The yatsabuhi as well as 2 tanayoshi in the back are all green right now.

In the front yard the beacon hill had a lot of brown on it (it has been opened right up for a few years so all the branches were getting light). I pruned off all of the brown about 6 weeks ago. It is shaded by a sumac and so I thought that maybe it was just suffering as the sumac gets bigger and denser and the pine was just indicating that it was not getting enough sun in the summer.
But now, I see that more brown has appeared on this beacon hill pine (the sumac has no leaves yet so it is in the sun still)
And across the path from the beacon hill pine, right next to the sumac is a yatsabuhi that is now showing brown..even on the very top right next to the new buds.
And like I said, the yatsa in the back of the house has no brown on it all all.

Disease?...too cold and rainy this spring..our soil is overall pretty clayish.
    Thanks
    Jane

Here are phots of the pines mentioned in my earlier pots
01 is the beacon hill pine
o4 and 05 are the yatsabushi. I couldn't get up high enough to show the brown at the top (04), but it looks like the brown in 05.
    Thanks, Jane
