shrub ID please

    When we moved to our current house, there were a few shrubs growing in a badly neglected yard. One of these I have been unable to identify. It is a deciduous shrub growing about 4 feet high with small black berries.

    Yes, it looks like the shrub and berries, but I think I recall the flower being more of a small white/pink bell rather than a plum blossom. I may have to wait to post again when it is in bloom. I am familiar with Saskatoon berry and pretty sure it is not a currant. Any other ideas gratefully accepted...

    This is a Cotoneaster species. Dozens of kinds have been recorded coming up wild in the Seattle area.

    Ron, do you know of any varieties with these dark berries?
