I've heard that the water from melted snow is good for watering orchids. Is there any truth in that? What's the benefit?
No chlorine (or worse yet chloramine), no fluoride and it's more acidic compared to city tap water. Good for most any plants. tj
Just make sure the water is not cold! You may find this thread of interest... http://www.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/forums/showthread.php?t=57576&highlight=ice+cubes&page=2
Collected rainwater is just as good, of course. As Silver surfer mentions, it is very important to make sure the meltwater has reached room temperature before using it.
