I am also try to grow apple tree but still not succeed yet. I do following procedure:
Put the seeds in damp paper towel and put it in the refrigerator about 12 days then put the seeds in the damp compost then put it again in the refrigerator for more then a month when I check them there color is turn to black but no germination starts. Is it my procedure OK? if yes what is wrong?

if you live in a warm climate, that is all unnecessary. I had success by just putting very fresh seeds in some regular potting mix and keeping it moist and warm everyday (put it on a refrigerator top) . my seeds sprouted in few weeks. some people might not agree but it worked for me.

if they are dead, of course. Also remember that the seeds must be fresh.

Apples are a temperate climate crop and are unlikely to produce
any fruit unless you can meet their chilling requirements. They need
in the neighborhood of 300 hrs. minimum (500 would be desirable) at
32 to 45F (0 to 7C)for flowering and fruitset. Plus you may need a
rootstock capable of withstanding the naturally occurring fungi,
nematodes and bacteria native to your soils.

I am waiting on a sprout, myself. I soaked the apple seeds, let them sit for a few hours found a container with a top that shuts, put in the peat soil mixture, the seeds and have it with the top on in the refrigerator. It might take a bit, but that seems to me more likely to sprout. I think those seeds dry out in that apple. I could be wrong.
