Hi, My name is Jan, and I live in Australia on the South Coast of New South Wales.

In a wind storm last Sunday we lost our beautiful Meliaceae -White Cedar Tree , China-berry or Melia azedarach var. australiasiac. (Over 60 years old). It had just begun to shoot for the new spring growing period but now it has been damaged beyond repair. I have taken some cutting from the tree and have removed all the yellow round berry (which I think are seed pods).
Can someone help me, by advising me if I can grow the cedar by seed or cutting?

I am an amature, But I would love to be able to propagate from this magnificent tree.
We have 32 acres of land and this tree was wonderful shade for our Cattle.

    Look forward to your reply.

My thanks in lue of your help.

Sowing the seeds may be your best bet.

    Hi Ron,

Am I correct in assuming that the small round berrys are seeds?

Is there a special direction that you plant them ( Stem end up etc;) or
to I just put them about 1-2cm deep in the potting mix or seed raising mix?

    regards

    Jan
