I have been growing this rose for about 5 years, and every year it blooms a bit in late May/June, and then for the rest of the summer there is pretty much nothing. I have a Hansa rose in the same bed and it blooms all summer to one degree or another. It has been fertilized and mushroom manure was added to the soil every other year. Any ideas as to why it blooms so reluctantly?
Info online says it is a repeat bloomer, but does recommend deadheading to encourage rebloom. I think 'Hansa' has an exceptionally long bloom period.
Yes, It has been deadheaded. I have since read somewhere that Therese Bugnet is not a strong re-bloomer. It would be nice if the first bloom period was stronger, in that case.
