strange weeping willow

    oh sorry read it wrong.what should i do about the long branches coming off it that are not 'weeping'.

    The weeping part - a grafted Salix caprea 'Kilmarnock' - is dead. What you have there is sprouts from the rootstock, which is a normal, non-weeping willow. No point in keeping it.

    Salix caprea 'Kilmarnock' is about the only willow which is regularly propagated by grafting rather than cuttings, as, unlike almost all other willows, it doesn't take root from cuttings. That's why the base is different to the top.

    thank you, so i should just get rid of it.i think this years frost might have killed it.
