We have an apple tree that is about 4 years old that is growing wild!! Branches growing out everywhere and looking really awful. What is the best time of year in North Vancouver to prune it?

    Thank you

P.S. I can submit a photo if it helps

You can prune off undesirable growth any time. I prune my apple trees (and other fruit trees) all summer, as soon as I see any growth that I don't want. That way the tree directs its energy exactly where you want it.

Thank you so much. I have been reading that I should wait until Fall or Early spring, but it looks so awful now I wanted to do something. Is there any certain way I should make the cuts? There is about 5 branches I wanted to cut off.

Branches should always be cut off close to the trunk, just leaving the thickened collar.
