I cannot locate these shrubs in Canada. I've seen them and confirmed that I want them. Where can I obtain them? No nursery I've checked in Toronto and Hamilton area are familiar with this plant and will not order them for me. My Reader’s Digest Gardening in Canada book lists as Deciduous shrubs: Vitex agnus-castus (Chaste Tree) is zone 8 H10’-Spread 6-8’ Green lance-shaped leaves are grayish beneath and exude pleasant odour when crushed. Small, fragrant, light urple to bluish blossoms in 7 inch spikes open from midsummer to early fall Vitex negundo is zone 5 H 15 ft – spread 8-12 ft Leaflets usually display toothed edges. Dark bluish-lavender flowers are attractive to bees Any help would be grand of you and greatly appreciated. Please contact Cev_2005@sympatico.ca
While it may be hardy to zone 5 you may find it acts a root hardy perennial rather than a woody shrub that far North. http://www.mobot.org/gardeninghelp/plantfinder/Plant.asp?code=M860 http://books.google.com/books?id=Q1...A#v=onepage&q=Vitex Negundo root hardy&f=true
Lots of info there which I appreciated reading. Thank you. I'll contact my local beekeepers to discuss.
