It is about 15 years old..last year i noticed the leaves looking burnt..the neighbor told me it is because i water the lawn and the tree with a sprinkler. well this year, i have not done that, only watered from the bottom of the tree. and it still looks like this. Help! Kim In Southeast Michigan
Have you modified in any way the environment your tree has seen in the last 15 years?, like removing a large tree nearby or building a pathway next to it, or..... What is the exposition for your tree? When the tree leafs out, are the leaves nice and healthy? When do they start crisping as shown in the picture? Gomero
Have you modified in any way the environment your tree has seen in the last 15 years?, like removing a large tree nearby or building a pathway next to it, or..... No changes in the area around the tree since it was planted. What is the exposition for your tree? the tree faces east. it is on the north east side of the house,in front. When the tree leafs out, are the leaves nice and healthy? Yes they are nice and healthy. not sure when it starts turning crispy. maybe it is to close to the house. I will keep an eye on it this week, and report back with more precise info for you. thanks!
Check out the 21 ways to have leaf burn (1/4 down the page). It's been useful for me trying to grow these plants in Texas. http://metromaples.com/growing_maples.htm
That is some great info! thanks, now i am thinking it may be grub damage, and under watering. we have grubs in the grass..and i treated the area, but didn't treat the garden area..the tree is about 5 feet from a small climbing rose, and a few other plants. so i wasn't sure if i should treat that area also. to be on the safe side, i didn't . thanks so much for all your help friends!
