Pollination of Capsicum

Hi,

have indoors a capsicum plant with small white blossoms. I am in need to know, if there are ways to pollinate the Capsicum blossoms (since there're no insects, fortunately, in my apartment), and how. Is there any guide or instruction diagram anyone knows of?

I have used a small artists paint brush to do this. It's really just a matter of getting some pollen to the stigma. For a plant like this with abundant flowers, you can just cut a few off and brush the blooms directly onto other blooms to spread the pollen.

 

Yeah, for citrus I use a cotton swab (Q-Tip).

Are the blossoms containing both sexes?

 

Yes, they need cross-pollination.

Nope. Just brush one flower a few times, and brush another.

Touch the stamen with the brush - the stamen is the yellow pollen-bearing part. Then do the same with another flower. Repeat with as many flowers as you can.

 

Thanks. With my orchids it's different, there you pick up the pollen, and place it into a different area of the blossom. That's why I wasn't been sure. Thanks a lot, you helped me.
