Unusual variegation with bronze foliage and white margins, with some green. Van Gelderen puts it with 'Umegae', but Umegae is not variegated.

Similar veriegation to Beni shi-en. Burgundy pink color with cream veriegation. Very nice!

I am very impressed with this cultivar which keeps the unsual variegation well into the season. No signs of greening out. Morning sun, afternoon shade. The pictures were taken today.

I've been waiting for one of these for a while.
In the shade, the contrast looks almost black on green.
    I hope it's a a solid cultivar.

One of my favorite new purchases, from Sam at Eastfork.

I love this one too. I also got mine from Sam. Wonder if she's the only source right now state side?

I had this one in a shaded area and i can say the tree does not do a lot for me. I will try it in full sun next year.

Mine has lost nearly all the burgundy color and completely greened out- it has almost a soapy look. It gets morning and early afternoon sun. Although the leaves still have light green margins, I am hoping that perhaps it will keep its burgundy brown color a little longer next year. I wonder what fall colors it will show?

Mine is still looking pretty good, not as good as my previous photo, a little more reddish this year, less maroon.

How I love this cultivar... A new arrival today to replace the little one I lost this spring; courtesy of Sam at Eastfork.

Nice looking tree maplesandpaws. It has nice curves in the trunk and good branching. I can't seem to source one large enough for the landscape. So, I am thinking of getting one for bonsai. I hope to find one that has the potential your tree has!

Thanks JT, I love it! Originally, I had intended for it to become a landscape tree, but it looks so nice, I'm having second thoughts - would make a pretty cool bonsai, I think.

You may want to contact Sam; when I purchased this tree, she also had a 3 gallon available and had it listed on ebay. I'm not sure if she still has it, but it would be worth checking out, I think. (This one was a two gallon.)

During much of the year most people walk right by this tree and do not notice it. Here is the color in late summer 2012

I got mine from the same wholesale nursery that I assume you got yours. Mine is greening out already in plenty of sun. I am starting to wonder if it's the source... I am kind of disappointed so far. A real bummer because I had high hopes for this tree. Maybe the nice and mature Beni shi-en that I was considering from them would have been a better way to go...

My Manyo No Sato continues to grow pretty well, looks healthy and stays in mostly mid day sun. It's not a sickly cultivar for me, grows strong.

While it is a different sort of green on green two-tone look for the summer, I do still love this tree. It has been in a fair bit of sun for most of the day, and granted until two weeks ago, our summer was decidedly cooler than the norm (mostly mid to upper 80s instead of upper 90s to low 100s, along with a fair bit of rain and LOTS of humidity), but still it has held up like a champ.

    Dear friends and plant lovers,

first of all I am sorry for bumping an older thread, I hope there will be understanding for it :)

I fall in love with the Manyo no Sato, but unfortunately I can not find any EU collectors willing to share a sample with me, I am willing to pay for it though.

If any of you have some info on EU owners, I would really appreciate the share :)

    Best regards!

Larvas, it is listed in the Esveld catalogue online, but with the alternative spelling 'Manyoh no sato'. I am pretty sure they would ship to Croatia.

    Welcome to the forum!

Thank you Maf! I don't see any shipping options to Croatia, but I contacted them and will wait for further instructions :)

    Best regards!

Filling out very nicely this spring, and the color has been wonderful! I am so torn as to whether to leave this tree potted and start training it for bonsai, or to put it in the ground. Too small just yet to do the latter, so I guess I still have some time to decide... Either way, I think this might be in my top 10.

This is a new one for me. Trying it out in a pot before I decide whether or not to give it yard space--
