Can someone identify this fruit? A tree of this flourishes on the bastion at Argotti Botanical Gardens, Malta. From the outside it is like a small orange rather flatter. Smell sweeter, perhaps a peachy smell.
Maybe.......not so sure. The peel resembles that of orange, but smells sweeter, rather like peach. Here is a photo of the tree itself.
Thanks for your reply. I know what a clementine is. The fruit in my picture is much much smaller than a tangerine/clementine......it is the size (diameter) of a table-tennis (ping pong) ball. Besides the skin is tightly attached to the body unlike tangerines.
You're unlikely to get a better ID without closeups of the foliage and fruit. For scale use something known worldwide such as a golf ball.
