Tropical tree ID...

    3 year old tree sold as 'japanese mango', but not very much like a mango...ideas?

    Loquat, maybe? What does the whole tree look like?

    hi liz....not sure if those bulbs are fruit or buds...i guess time will tell

    OK, well seeing the whole tree, it's definitely a mango. Those would be flower buds.

    the leaves grow opposite each other, wheras all my different mangos grow staggered...and my mango flowers have never looked anything like these things...

    i only have the one bract on one of the two trees, if it doesn't fall off we'll get an answer.

    one week later, buds about twice the size...leaves greener due to fertilizer and water...imagine that!

    they remind me of a guanabana growing nearby...lots of frilly things on the bloom...
