taxonomy of a moon plant

    I got this plant a few days ago and was told it was a moon plant but havnt found anything on that plant the lady i got it from was getting rid of it because she said it was poisonous and didn't want her dog getting in it
    sorry for the bad quality pictures all i had at the time was my cell phone

    The stems and black or dark purple

    I got a bunch of seeds from it

    It's a Datura. From the earth, not the moon (no known plants there at all!). And yes, it is poisonous if eaten.

    Yes, a Datura. Other types have large single white flowers and have the common name "moon flower" as do a few other plants.
