Hi, We are right next to each other moreless :) I live in Zeeland, by the cityside middle school if you know where that is. Did you meen arborvitae? like the bushy tree thing that looks kinda like a pine tree? If so I have one about 3 feet tall in a pot on my porch. Mines doing great, mine has a little brown on the middle older leaves to, I thinks its from the winter. The slow growth should be able to be helped by fertilizing it. Could you post a picture of it? The brown might just be dead and in need of clipping it off. Or it might not be dead.
I don't know a lot about conifers, but I would not apply fertilizer to stressed plants unless a soil test indicated a need for it. It can cause more stress for the plants.
O thats not what I was thinking of as brown. If its really brittil then you might want to cut off the dead parts. I would wait and see if someone else post.
