I have a beautiful wandering jew that has suffered badly from being to close to the heater this winter. It seems that many of the shoots grow out well, are dead in the middle, and then return to healthy. What is the best remedy? Should I cut them off at the end of the first healthy portion and start the healthy end pieces in water? Thanks Nicky
Exactly. Those middle sections got too warm and were essentially scalded. It's possible a node on the side of the stem that was facing away from the heat would sprout new growth, but it sounds like that's not going to happen. Cut off the scalded areas, salvage any growing tips you like, and wait for the main plant to sprout again.
Cut or prune the end of stems that have been damaged. This will cause the stems to branch out and become bushy. Don't worry it will regain its beauty. __________ Mary Henderson
