Thuja occidentalis (Smaragd) Cedar bare spots

    My cedars have brown bare spots along two or three long branches.

    Do I just cut the branches off and then it will fill back in?

    Hard to tell you without seeing them.

    If spring is arriving in your area, you would know in a matter of weeks anyway.

    If there are no buds on the wood within, don't expect new growth from within. But if even the smallest buds can emerge, you may see growth, though recovery is slow sometimes.
