I am an amateur exotic plant collector.I always take note and place a sticker when I planted a seed. But last year an unknown, long time sleeping seed started to grow at the untagged pod.Picture was taken at November 2009.Now the plant is leafless at the cool greenhouse. Can anybody identify it?

If I didn't know better, I'd be inclined to say it's Cascarilla (Croton eleuteria), but you're in Turkey, which really makes me wonder.

I have a plant which looks like yours. The Thai people call it 'Falang'. It is a Thai apple & nice to eat!

    Hi Everyone

I think we may all be able to agree that the plant in question may be from the guava family? It needs sunlight and plenty of water before it will start to grow again.

My 'Farangs', which I have grown from seeds, will always lose their leaves when I forget to water them! Many plants do this to some extent to conserve water in their systems. I don't think they like it cold either. It is never cold here in Thailand.

    Anybody got another idea?

When I see all the replies are related with guava family, I remembered that it is purple skin guava.A grapefruit size edible food from the tropical market.
    Thanks everbody.

    Hi

The one I have here in Thailand is about the same size as an apple. I have a guava tree in my house in Gambia but it has never produced any fruit!

    Thank you everbody.

My tiny plant is guava! It's not evergreen so I hope it will survive in my coolgreenhouse.
