    Hi Everyone

I also have a plant to identify which I have attached photos. I think it is a Bromeliad.

    Any comments?

Re: can anybody identify this plant?

The second "Bromeliad" image looks like a Crinum Lily of some sort.

    Hi Saltcedar

    Sorry for the confusion!

The second photo shows an actual runner/shoot cut from the adult plant in the first photo. They do not look the same because of the light problem with the camera. The adult plant is in the shade. Also it is quite big so I was further away when I took that shot.

In the book which I have, it tells me that there are '60 genera containing 1400 different species'. The plantain banana is one of them & the pineapple is another. They are not all edible.

Thanks for starting this new thread!

I think it looks like my Dracaena. I'm not sure which cultivar, but maybe Dracaena reflexa. Do you think it looks like what's in this Wikipedia writeup?

    Hi

    Thanks for that.

The plants I have are tropical and the get very big. You would need a very big pot to grow as an ornamental plant! The biggest one I have is now 1.5 meters high with a diameter of about 700mm! They are light green & white or all green in colour. They produce a lilly type of flower two times a year during the rainy season.

I'm not sure if you're saying it's not that, or you just wonder because of the size. Here's a link to a blogspot posting with photos of very large dracaena reflexas (not variegated ones) with flowers. The flowers should help you decide if they're the same or not. I thought mine would be up to the ceiling except that I keep cutting the shoots down when they get over one meter and planting the cuttings.

    Hi

    Thanks

No, thats not it. My plant has no 'woody' stem. It has no stem at all. The stem is more like a palm but still fleshy. I have attached more photos on here.

    1. Photo of another of the same plant in question.

    2. Pineapple grown from propagation by just placeing the unwanted top portion on the ground in a shady area (We ate the main part long ago!) My books tell me that it is a bromeliad.

    3. This is a plant which looks like the pineapple but purple in colour. It grows everywhere here in Thailand like a weed!
