Identification: red-leafed plant

    Can anyone identify a red-leafed plant that is perrenial in Florida but not in Pennsylvania ?

    Will you elaborate on your request?

    Have you seen such a plant and now want to know what it is, or is it something you've only heard about? Because we could use more details to ID this.

    I would suggest you look at Perilla or Shiso. It will reseed in your area, but could overwinter in Florida.

    Plant brought from Florida garden two years ago. Eight plants started from top cuttings and grown indoors. Plant has one main upright stem,opposite leaves 5 to 6 inches long strongly ribbed with strong veins, edge of leaf finely notched. Purplish red which fades if exposed to too strong sun.

    Coleus? It's hard to know though for sure what you may have without a photo....

    Thanks for the suggestion. It is not a coleus. Latest idea here is that it is cordyline terminalis.

    Thanks very much. The world of cordylines turns out to be overwhelming, but I think we have indeed entered it.
