I have a tea rose that has grown a lot this summer and produced quite a few roses. How do we prepare them for winter. I will cover itwhen the first frost comes, but should I cut it back?

I would not think "Tea" roses would be hardy in your climate zone. Or, do you mean "Hybrid Tea"? Since you're in a colder zone, advice should come from someone in a similar situation. In zone 7, we just top tall roses back to about 3ft and cover the crown area on bud grafted roses with a mulch. You may like to try http://www.rosesquebec.org for information pertinent to your climate zone.

Thanks for the reply.Last year I cut it back after it almost did not survive having the roots cleaned and the plant dug up. I had then covered it with one of those styrofoam domes and it did well. I never saw Hybrid on the card attached to the plant. Could it still survive if it wasn't a hybrid?
