I have two 6-foot deep balconies facing east on the 8th floor of this new condo. They get morning sun (3-4 hours), frequent rain in summer and dry but breezy in winter. Many things we grew in our back yard simply don't work well here, they get bruised by the wind or drown with the rain (e.g., bromeliads) or don't like the sun (ferns). I need ideas from folks with more experience. What classes of plants are hardy enough to withstand this stressful environment?
