Beer traps work very well, but are a little high maintenance in as much as you need to remove the dead slugs every day and change the beer every few days. You can easily kill 30 or more slugs per trap per night if you keep moving them to fresh locations.

The new type of slug pellets based on iron phosphate are ok for organic gardening, but haven't tried them myself yet.

Try sprinkling diatomaceous earth on the ground around the plants. Wood ash will also discourage them as they won't cross it.

you could go to the nursery and ask for natural powder or a mixture you could spray the plants.
